Over the last few months I have spent my time and energy focused on creating oil paintings with a deeper message that resonates with both our current struggles and our aspirations for a better future. I have always been passionate about our environment and how us humans have influenced what we see occurring around us, sometimes in detrimental ways that we cannot overlook. Through these paintings, I hoped to invoke a sense of responsibility in viewers and call for all to be better and more conscious about how our actions impact the world we live in, urging everyone to consider more sustainable practices and be mindful of our footprint on this beautiful planet we call home. It's crucial that we recognize our collective responsibility to nurture and protect the natural resources and biodiversity that are essential for our shared survival, and I aim to convey this urgency through my art.

Ghosts of Eden
This painting documents the devastating transformation of the Great Barrier Reef, driven by rising ocean temperatures over recent decades. From left to right, a once thriving underwater paradise of vibrant color and life fades into a ghostly, deserted wasteland, illustrating the stark contrast between the vibrant ecosystem that teemed with diverse marine species and the barren expanse that now stands as a haunting reminder of environmental neglect and change. The vivid blues, greens, and corals that once characterized this underwater Eden have been replaced by muted tones and lifeless structures, prompting contemplation about our responsibility towards nature and the urgent need for action to prevent further degradation.

Sixty Thousand Silent
This diptych set of two 18 x 24 in oil paintings details the devastation caused by the catastrophic 2019-20 Australian bushfires. These fires took a fatal toll across a significant portion of Australia’s wildlife, but perhaps the most heartbreaking impact was felt by the Koala population, which suffered immensely during the tragic event referred to as the "black summer." An estimated 60,000 Koalas were killed or seriously harmed, which left the surviving population struggling to endure. The aim of these two paintings is to provide a visual narrative that illustrates just how drastic and extreme the world became for these adorable and unique creatures, highlighting the urgent need for conservation efforts to protect them and their habitats. In an era where bushfires are becoming more frequent and intense due to climate change, these artworks serve as powerful reminders of what is at stake and call for action towards the preservation of our beautiful, yet fragile, ecosystems.
